MINISTER of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo encouraged Indonesian athletes not to be discouraged when competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This was revealed when Dito held an inauguration ceremony for the Indonesian contingent who will take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Kemenpora Auditorium, Jakarta on Wednesday (10/7).

“Remember when competing in the Olympics later, even though there are many nations that are bigger than us, we must be sure that Indonesia is a dignified nation and a great country. I entrust our confidence to all of us and play as well as possible,” said Dito in his speech, Wednesday (10/7).

Dito said the athletes sent had gone through a long process, training following training had also been carried out to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“In this preparation, our proud athletes have been prepared since 2022 through continuous National Training and this is an implementation of Presidential Regulation number 86 concerning national sports,” said Dito.

“It is hoped that with continuous coaching, it can produce optimal achievements. As previously stated, the Olympic Games are the culmination of all efforts and hard work in the world of sports,” he added.

The same thing was also said by the General Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC), Raja Sapta Oktohari, who emphasized to the athletes to be able to compete with a strong mentality.

“For the Indonesian team, there is no more nervousness, anxiety, let alone fear,” said Okto.

“Qualifying for the Olympics is proof that you are the best athletes in the world,” he added.

In addition to sending athletes, Okto also said that Indonesia is sending six referees who will lead matches at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“There will be six referees on duty at the 2024 Olympics. This is an increase from the previous Olympics,” he said.

On the same occasion, the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Anindya Bakrie, said that his party had prepared the Garuda House in France for Indonesian athletes.

“The CdM team provides services in the form of Rumah Garuda as the head quartet for the Indonesian team. And there, athletes can stay temporarily. To enjoy medical recovery services and also if other services are needed,” said Anindya.

Anindya also said that his party was still coordinating regarding bonuses with the Indonesian NOC for athletes who excel at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Yes, for us, of course, to ensure that whatever the athletes do is the best. For appreciation and all sorts, we will coordinate with NOC, but God willing, we can provide encouragement,” he said. (Z-8)
