THE Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo has officially confirmed the Indonesian athletes who will take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Kemenpora Auditorium, Jakarta on Wednesday (10/7). Afterwards, the team will depart for the State Palace to be officially released by President Joko Widodo.

“Today, the inauguration procession of the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics was carried out, where we will send 29 athletes with a total of 12 sports with a total contingent of around 86 people,” said Dito to the media crew, (10/7).

Dito said, with the release it is hoped that the athletes can win more Olympic gold than before for Indonesia. In addition, the athletes are also expected to be able to maintain their world ranking.

“The rankings and achievements in the qualifying rounds and also the previous series are very good, and hopefully this mentality and consistency can be maintained so that at the Olympics it can produce medals,” he said.

Regarding the medal tally, Dito hopes a lot from several sports such as badminton, weightlifting and rock climbing which are calculated to be capable of winning gold.

“Maybe it is a sport that has the greatest potential to win medals,” he explained.

Furthermore, Dito said the Indonesian contingent will be gradually sent to Paris. Later, they will depart from July 13, 2023.
