THE Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo took the time to directly review the development of the indoor volleyball arena or venue at the North Sumatra Sport Center Complex, Deli Serdang, Friday (13/9) which will be used in the 2024 National Sports Week (PON).
The venue, which previously received many complaints, has now undergone significant improvements, especially regarding road access to the location.
“Earlier I was from the main stadium, and now I see the indoor volleyball venue that many athletes had previously complained about. There was a one-day delay due to poor access conditions. But, thank God, now the road is flat and can be passed comfortably,” said Dito in his statement received on Saturday (14/9).
Dito also praised the quick response from the organizing team who immediately repaired the road access after receiving complaints from athletes and spectators. Now, the road around the indoor volleyball venue has been paved, eliminating the muddy and slushy conditions that had been a problem.
“Yesterday there were some problems related to muddy road access. However, the road paving has been done since four days ago and today the road is dry, without mud or puddles. This certainly increases the comfort for the spectators and supporters who attend,” said Dito.
Dito also noted an increase in the number of spectators attending the indoor volleyball venue after the repairs were made. According to him, the comfort of the spectators is the main priority and the repairs have succeeded in creating a more conducive and enjoyable atmosphere.

“I saw that the audience was also very comfortable watching the match. Earlier I had the chance to ask some of the audience directly, and they were very satisfied with the current condition of the venue. This is one of the best indoor volleyball venues in Indonesia, and I am proud of that,” he explained.
In his review, Dito also paid attention to the facilities inside the venue. According to him, the indoor volleyball venue in the Sport Center Complex is equipped with an air conditioning system (AC) that is specially designed for players and spectators. The facilities are arranged to ensure maximum comfort for both parties during the match.
“Inside the venue, I saw that there is an AC system that is specifically designed for players on the field and also for spectators. This air conditioning system is in accordance with international standards and is very helpful in creating a comfortable environment during the match,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Although major improvements have been made, Dito admitted that there are still some parts of the indoor volleyball venue that need finishing. However, he is optimistic that this venue will be one of the best in Indonesia once all the work is completed.
“We have to admit that there are some finishing parts that are not perfect. But, I am sure this will be one of the best volleyball venues in Indonesia when everything is finished. Regarding the road access, I have provided some input, and I am grateful that the work has gone well,” he explained.
With this significant improvement, the Minister of Youth and Sports hopes that the indoor volleyball arena in North Sumatra can be a good example for other sports arenas in Indonesia in terms of comfort and quality of facilities. (Z-6)
