Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi conducted a review and evaluation regarding the conditions of homecoming traffic during the Eid transport period (2024) at four toll gates out of Jakarta, namely Cikatama, Kalitama, Ciawi and Cikupa, Monday (8/4). This activity was carried out together with National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto.
“From what we see, there is a change from last year. Last year travelers preferred the day, but now they prefer the night, so the day tends to be empty. So, how do we provide information and education to the public, this is important,” ” said the Minister of Transportation.
On that occasion, Budi expressed his deep condolences for the accident that occurred at KM 58 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Monday morning (8/4). He said that this incident had become an expensive lesson and an evaluation for the implementation of homecoming in the future, both in terms of policy and outreach to the community.
The Minister of Transportation also appreciated the field officers who are on duty day and night and carry out regular evaluations to provide the best service for the community.
Apart from that, Budi advised travelers to keep their bodies in top condition and prepare themselves well before traveling home. “If you are really tired, you have to rest in the rest area provided,” he added.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit said that homecoming flow management at the four main toll gates leaving Jakarta was going well, starting from the initial entry at KM 50 to KM 414 Kalikangkung.

“There has been an increase in the speed of achievement from the start to Central Java, which usually takes 8 hours, now it has become 6.7 hours,” he said.
The peak of homecoming traffic during the Eid 2024 transport period occurred on the 4th day of Eid, shifting from last year to the 3rd day of Eid with the density of the homecoming flow decreasing compared to last year.
To maintain travel safety on public transportation, urine test services and health tests have been prepared for bus drivers. “We urge drivers not to push themselves when they are tired because it will have fatal consequences if forced,” he said. (RO/Z-11)
