MINISTER of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi confirmed that the Simpang Joglo railway line, in Solo, Central Java, could operate on Friday (1/11). This was conveyed by Budi when reviewing the progress of the construction of the elevated railway bridge at Simpang Joglo, Solo, Sunday (13/10).

On this occasion, the Minister of Transportation checked the progress of the construction of the Simpang Joglo elevated railway by boarding a lorry from Kadipiro Station.

According to him, it is possible to use the rail, but to meet the requirements, in the future a load test will be carried out on Saturday-Sunday, 23-24 October 2024.

“Earlier we used lorries, meaning the route from Semarang-Solo is practically possible. “Later, a new load test will be carried out after which operations will be carried out on November 1,” said the Minister of Transportation in an official statement, Sunday (13/10).

Previously, when trains passed through Simpang Joglo, it had seven intersections and often became a long traffic jam that was prone to accidents. By constructing the elevated railway, the Minister of Transportation hopes that the traffic jam at Simpang Joglo can be resolved.

“This bridge has two functions, one functional function, here is the center of the traffic jam, there are 7 lanes that cross here. “With the elevated and underpass, it will be like intersection 4, not intersection 7,” said the Minister of Transportation.

After checking the construction of the elevated railway bridge at Simpang Joglo, the Minister of Transportation continued his working visit to Klaten Station, which is currently being beautified.

The station was part of the first railway line in Indonesia which was inaugurated on July 9 1871 and was also the first station built between Solo and Jogja.

The Minister of Transportation said that the beautification of Klaten Station was carried out to prioritize customer comfort. This is because Klaten Station is one of the agglomeration points from Solo to Purworejo.

As of October 10 2024, the progress of the Klaten Station beautification work reached 80.52%. The parts that were carried out include the main hall, public facilities, prayer room, toilets, ticketing hall, lobby and platform, outside waiting room, office space, expedition building, parking lot, parking area, as well as the former official residence.
