MINISTER of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi expressed his appreciation to all parties for the collaboration and coordination so that the 2024 Eid transport can run well. This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation when closing the Integrated Eid Transport Center Post for 2024/1445 Hijriah at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Friday (19/4).
“I am proud and express my appreciation to all parties and related elements for their coordination and real work together so that this homecoming can run well. Thank you to the relevant ministries and institutions, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, regional governments, the National Police, the TNI, transportation operators, the media who “We express our gratitude for our intense support, as well as the entire community,” said the Minister of Transportation.
Budi said that President Joko Widodo also expressed his appreciation. The President assessed that this year’s Eid transportation had gone well. In this case, the President always monitored and provided direction during Angleb’s term.
“The President said that the Eid transportation was going well. There is nothing significant that worries us. However, we will continue to carry out evaluations and improvements. So far, the President continues to monitor intensely and provide encouragement. Thank you to the President so that we can all supervise and collaborate in carrying out this responsibility,” he said.
He did not deny that there were a number of notes and evaluations from Angleb this year. This is mainly based on a very significant surge in movement.
Based on the results of a mobile positioning data (MPD) survey conducted by telecommunications operator Telkomsel, the number of people’s movements nationally during the period 3-18 April 2024 was 242.6 million movements. In the Jabodetabek area there are 41.5 million movements. Then the use of public transportation also increases compared to 2023, and road traffic is relatively smooth with an average vehicle speed of around 70-75 km/hour.

“There has been a significant increase in people’s movement. Public transport trips have also increased. There are still several things happening that we don’t want. Even so, the number of accidents has decreased and vehicle speeds can increase. This is a positive thing,” explained Budi.
Head of the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) Inspector General Aan Suhanan said that there was a decrease in the number of accidents by 8% during Angleb. This year there were 3,286 traffic accidents, down from last year’s 3,561 accidents. The fatality rate also decreased by 12% from last year’s 534 deaths to 469 this year.
“During the Eid transportation period, we have also carried out traffic engineering by implementing contra flow 27 times in Jakarta-Cikampek-Cipali, 20 times one way on the toll road, and 197 times one way outside the toll road in West Java. In Central Java, “We are also making arrangements on arterial roads,” explained the Head of Traffic Corps.

Apart from that, a delaying system was implemented 40 times at crossings from Km 13 to Km 68 during the homecoming flow. This is done because of queues and increased vehicle volume. Even so, vehicle speed increased by 0.8 km/hour compared to last year. This means that the homecoming travel time is 11 minutes faster than last year.
“We express our gratitude, this big celebration that we have gone through is going well, thanks to the collaboration of all stakeholders, the community and the media. The success of this management is our collective success,” said Kakorlantas.
Also present at this event were all levels of middle-ranking officials (echelon 1) of the Ministry of Transportation, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) Soerjanto Tjahjono, and all Managing Directors of BUMN transportation operators. (RO/Z-2)
