During the plenary session in the House of Representatives, Kamel Al-Wazir called on two members of the House of Representatives not to leave the parliament hall until their remarks regarding the objection to the expansion of borrowing in favor of a number of transportation projects are answered.

Representatives Atef El-Maghawry and Ahmed Farghali attacked the government because of the expansion of external borrowing and the increase in public debt on projects that do not bring economic benefit, and most of them are infrastructure projects, not investment ones.
Kamel Al-Wazir replied at the beginning of his speech: I ask the two deputies not to leave the hall to listen to my comment regarding what has been mentioned regarding the project.
If I do not prove that the project is an investment, I will leave the council and submit my resignation
Kamel challenged the minister: “If I do not explain to the two deputies the importance of the project, and if I do not prove that the project is an investment, I will leave the parliament and submit my resignation, and if they find out the importance of the project, they must clarify that.”
The plenary session of the House of Representatives witnessed heated discussions with Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, the Minister of Transport, because of the loan for the project agreement to develop the trade logistics line between Cairo and Alexandria between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, estimated at $400 million.
At first, MPs Atef El Maghawry and Ahmed Farghali criticized the government for expanding external borrowing and increasing public debt on projects that have no economic return, and most of them are infrastructure projects, not investment ones.
Kamel Al-Wazir stressed during his speech at the plenary session of Parliament: “The reason for the speedy request for discussing the loan is because of its importance because it is a project for the poor that MP Atef al-Maghawry talks regarding, and rickety railways. who you represent.”
Kamel Al-Wazir continued: The project is one of the most important logistical corridors that the ministry decided to implement because it is necessary for the comprehensive development of the rest of the country’s sectors. Our approach is that national companies implement bridges, bridges, mobile and motorized units, and they will be imported and implemented in Egypt soon.”
Kamel Al-Wazir indicated that the loan procedures have not been completed, and we are spending from Egyptian funds, and the World Bank asked, so our response was that the loan is for tractors on the railways that the government is building.
Counselor Hanafi Jabali, head of the council, said: “I thank the opposition deputies. Had it not been for their concern for the public interest, we would not have listened to the explanation given by the Minister of Transport.”
