The Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Affairs in Kuwait, Dr. Rana Al-Faris, announced the Kuwaitization plan, empowering national cadres, and not renewing contracts for non-Kuwaiti employees, according to “Kuwait News”.
The plan included a timetable for the termination of contracts for non-Kuwaiti employees in three phases. The first phase includes no less than 33%, and the warning period begins on September 1, while the second phase begins on February 1, 2023, and the third phase begins on July 1, 2023, and includes the remaining number of non-Kuwaiti employees.
The decision indicated that the Kuwaitization plan includes the following controls: Preparing lists of non-Kuwaiti employees in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures to terminate their services according to the timetable within a week.
The decision excluded a non-Kuwaiti employee with a Kuwaiti mother, children of the Cooperation Council countries, of unspecified nationality, service employees, 50% of funeral employees, in addition to stopping the appointment and transfer of non-Kuwaitis in the municipality.
