Social Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) completes a Salzburg day. In addition to visiting the Caritas facilities, he distributes food with the Flachgauer Tafel and meets with volunteers from the Sportunion for a bike tour.
Comprehensive inclusion of people with disabilities begins in infancy and school age. Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch and the deputy director of Caritas Salzburg, Andrea Schmid, looked at what support for children can look like in everyday life when they visited the ICamp in Salzburg-Süd on Friday.
“People with disabilities are a natural part of our society. It’s great how children in the ICamp learn to prioritize their strengths and to support each other – regardless of whether they have a disability or not,” says Social Minister Rauch.
In order to enable children with disabilities to lead a self-determined life, the Ministry of Social Affairs has introduced improvements in recent months – such as standardizing personal assistance in all areas of life or raising the age for the ability to work test.
In the inclusive Caritas holiday camps, children with and without disabilities experience exciting summer weeks together and receive inclusive holiday care. They can enjoy their free time together and break down barriers with visits to museums, the outdoor pool and various workshops.
As a follow-up appointment, Rauch and his team will visit the Caritas village of St. Anton in Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße on their Salzburg day. In the followingnoon he distributes groceries with the Flachgauer Tafel in Koppl and meets with volunteers from the Sportunion for a bike tour.
