“The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, completed his southern tour, visiting Tire hospitals, meeting with medical and administrative staff in the Qana Governmental and Jabal Amel hospitals, and checking on the health of the wounded civil defense members of the Islamic Message Scouts Association.
He also visited shelters for displaced people in Tyre, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Fadi Sinan, and the Head of the Hospitals and Dispensaries Department, Hisham Fawaz.
Al-Abyad held a meeting at the center of the Disaster Management Unit in the Union of Municipalities of the District of Tire, in the presence of MPs Inaya Ezz El-Din and Ali Khreis, the Director of the Disaster Unit in the Union of Municipalities of the District of Tire, Mortada Muhanna, the Medical Officer of the Tire District, Wissam Ghazal, the Health Officer in the Amal Movement, Jabal Region. Muhanna spoke regarding “the numbers of displaced people and their spread in shelter centers and relatives’ homes in the villages of the district, and the aid that reaches the displaced, and the renewal of daily supplies and basic requirements, in light of their numbers increasing day following day.”
For his part, Al-Abyad spoke and said: “This visit comes to review the implementation of the government’s emergency plan, follow up on the conditions of the displaced, and monitor the readiness of the region’s hospitals to receive patients in the event of any emergency.”
He stressed, “The Ministry of Health’s operations room is following up with all concerned regarding the health conditions of the displaced and seeking to secure medical supplies for them as soon as possible, especially medicine, examinations, and deliveries.” He said: “We are working to find quick solutions to all problems in order to do our least duty towards the people.”
He praised “the work of disaster units in the regions and the great role of civil society and the cohesion among all its sects, especially in light of these circumstances.”
