Minister of Health: Egypt ranks fourth in the Arab world and 26th globally in medical tourism

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, said at the opening of the Cairo Doctors Syndicate conference on medical tourism under the title “Medicine and Tourism in the Land of the Kinana”, that Egypt possesses the elements of medical tourism much more than its classification on the global medical tourism map, as Egypt occupies fourth place in the Arab world. and 26 globally.

The Minister of Health and Population added that the components of medical tourism are doctors, hospitals, tourism services and the cost of treatment.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed that a committee must lead the development of medical tourism within a plan in which coordination is made with all concerned parties, and indicated that a decision will soon be issued by the Prime Minister, stressing the need for the Doctors Syndicate to partner and coordinate with it. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar indicated Al-Ghaffar pointed out that the media’s unprofessional handling of medical issues, dealing with individual cases and exaggerating them, seriously harms medical tourism.
