When ACAP was criticized by the public, the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani asked the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) to improve customs and excise services. He admitted that he had received various reports on Customs handling that were disturbing the public.

“My instructions are clear, I ask Customs and Excise to continue to improve services and be proactive in providing education to the public regarding policies from various ministries/institutions,” he said, quoted from the Minister of Finance’s official Instagram account @smindrawati, Sunday (28/4),

The disturbing reports included the delivery of shoes with action figures (robotic). In these two cases, there were indications that the price notified by the courier service company (PJT) was lower than the actual price (under invoicing). Customs officers, said the Minister of Finance, make corrections for the purposes of calculating import duties and taxes.

“However, this problem has been resolved because the import duties and taxes have been paid, so the goods have been received by the recipient of the goods,” explained Sri Mulyani.

Then, another problem concerns the delivery of goods for the learning of blind students to the Jakarta National Level Pembina SLB-A. The imported goods were 20 keyboards and were previously notified as consignment goods by PJT on December 18 2022.

However, continued Sri Mulyani, because the processing process was not continued by the person concerned without any information, the goods were designated as Uncontrolled Goods (BTD). Later on X’s social media it was discovered that the goods sent were donated goods.

“So, Customs and Excise will assist with a fiscal exemption facility mechanism on behalf of the relevant education agency,” said the Minister of Finance.

Due to a series of problems with customs services which often become gossip by netizens, Sri Mulyani encouraged DJBC to provide services in accordance with the mandate of the law, namely as border protection or customs protection, optimizing revenue collectors or as state revenue in the form of import and export duties.

Then, as a trade facilitator or providing facilities to support domestic and industrial industries, as well as as industrial assistance or protecting domestic industry from unhealthy competition from abroad.

Apart from that, Sri Mulyani also asked Customs and Excise to work together with relevant stakeholders so that services and handling problems in the field can be fast, precise and effective so as to provide certainty to the public. (Z-3)
