Minister of Finance of Ukraine chairs the World Bank Board of Governors
The head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko became the head of the board of governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was reported in the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
“Today, the governing member countries of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund elected the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko, as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF for 2023,” the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported on the Twitter social network (blocked in the Russian Federation). Marchenko was on a working visit to Washington, where a meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee was held on Friday.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland called for Russia to be excluded from the IMF, reports channel 360. The International Monetary Fund supports Ukraine, having previously allocated $1.3 billion to Kyiv. According to the head of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva, Ukraine needs 3-4 billion dollars financial assistance per month in 2023. At the last briefing, the World Bank promised Ukraine $530 million, the website reports.
