The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, confirmed that the Investopia 2023 conference witnessed the announcement of strategic projects that provide investment opportunities amounting to regarding 370 million dirhams.
Bin Touq Al-Marri said during a press conference at the end of the activities of the second day of the Investopia 2023 conference that 14 projects and cooperation agreements were announced during this important international event.
He added that the Italian GKSD Group announced during the conference the launch of SMART Clinics projects (smart clinics) in the UAE and the expansion of them in the region.. In addition to cooperation between the Italian Fontana Gruppo and the Emirati company Sigma to explore opportunities in the UAE and the Gulf market.
He continued: “The conference witnessed cooperation in the field of environmental sustainability, between Greenthesis and the Salah Sharaf Investment Group, which is an Emirati-Italian cooperation, according to which the first factory will be established in the UAE for the recycling of lead batteries… In the field of fintech and financial services, the MENA Fintech Association announced the establishment of council in the region.
The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, indicated that Investopia signed 6 new partnerships in addition to 4 memorandums of understanding, as the two-day conference gathered more than 2,500 participants from decision makers, investors, experts, academics and media professionals from around the world. Among them, 1,000 participants came from outside the country to explore global opportunities for investment under the slogan “Imagine Opportunities in Times of Change”.
Bin Touq Al-Marri said that the participants in the Investopia 2023 conference are from 40 countries, and 35 sessions and round tables were held in which more than 100 speakers participated, in addition to the fact that 75% of the participants in the summit are from the private sector.
The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, indicated that through iconnections, 300 meetings were held, 60% of the meetings were with investment funds managing more than a billion dollars.
He added that regarding 55% of the meetings were with hedge funds and 45% with venture capital funds and private financing institutions, noting that although hedge funds constituted only 40% of the number of investors, they obtained 55% of the meetings, which reflects the interests of investors. Currently in light of the challenges facing global markets.
The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, said that the date for the next session of “Investopeia 2024”, which is scheduled to be held on February 28-29, 2024 in Abu Dhabi, will be where Abu Dhabi will host the MC13 meetings from February 26 to March 1.
