The Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, asks the Régie de l’énergie to examine the marketing margins of service stations in the greater Quebec region. The minister wants to understand the price differences between the Capitale-Nationale and other regions of Quebec, such as Chaudière-Appalaches.
He also studied an in-depth analysis of the factors responsible for these significant variations. In addition, the minister expressed concern regarding rising prices in 2022 and the first half of 2023. The average margins in Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches were significantly higher than the provincial average.
Remember that last June, the member for Beauce-Sud, Samuel Poulin, made a public outing to denounce the price differences at the pump in the region. Recently, the member for Rivière-du-Loup, Amélie Dionne, also followed in the footsteps of her colleague from Beauce-Sud. The two MPs are calling for an investigation by the Competition Bureau of Canada.
