Minister Lavrov leaves G20 meeting and is accused of refusing dialogue | International

Lavrov left the meeting room G20 in the luxurious noble hotel, on the Indonesian island, immediately following his speech, without listening to his critics.

According to diplomatic sources, the Russian Foreign Minister, Serguéi Lavrov, left the G20 meeting on Friday during the speech of his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, in which the German minister criticized Moscow for its war in Ukraine.

Apparently, Lavrov was also not present during a session in which the Ukrainian Foreign Minister participated remotely, nor when the US Secretary of State, Antony Blink, condemned Russia.

“Not a millimeter of willingness to dialogue”

In the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Bali, attended by Russia, the United States and its Western allies increased pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

“What we have heard today is a great chorus from all over the world, not just from the United States (…) regarding the need to end the aggression,” he said. Antony Blink to journalists.

For her part, the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, accused Sergey Lavrov of refusing dialogue by leaving the G20 meeting.

“The fact that the Minister of External relationships Russian has spent much of the deliberations not here in the room, but outside of it, underlines that there is not a millimeter of will for dialogue on the part of the Russian Government at this time”, Barbock said.

Very clear call to Russia

Baerbock stressed that, precisely on the important issue of how to deal with the world food crisis, Lavrov was not present.

“Therefore, it is even more important that we, as the leading industrialized countries of the G7, now jointly support the countries of the global South, that we ensure that the people who are already suffering do not suffer a much, much deeper famine.” .

The vast majority of representatives present at the meeting condemned “Russia’s brutal war of aggression” as the greatest current danger, Baerbock said.

“The call of the 19 states (of the G20) was very clear to Russia: this war must end”, added the head of German diplomacy.
