Minister K Ponmudi Arrested by ED after 13-hour Raid: 28 Crores Loss Scandal

CHENNAI > Minister K Ponmudi in Stalin’s cabinet was taken into custody by the ED after a raid that lasted for thirteen hours. After the hour-long raid, the minister was taken into custody and taken to the ED office in a car. Years later, the ED action was taken in the case of 28 crores loss to the exchequer by illegally granting quarry license to his son and his friends while he was a minister in 2006. Minister Senthal Balaji, who was in ED custody, was shifted to jail today. The case was registered during Jayalalitha’s tenure. The ED team, which dusted off the 11-year-old case, along with CRPF personnel, today inspected the minister’s residences in Chennai and Vizhupuram and the engineering college affiliated to Ponmudi.
