Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin met with British Minister of Energy Security and Carbon Neutrality, Grand Shapps, who is visiting Korea on the 10th, and asked for Korean companies’ cooperation in the UK’s new nuclear power plant construction project.
Minister Park said, “Our nuclear power plant has proven to the world the ability to construct on time and within budget through the case of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE (United Arab Emirates).”
In addition, he asked for interest in bilateral Small Module Nuclear Power Plant (SMR) cooperation projects.
“Nuclear energy is essential for the implementation of carbon neutrality,” Minister Sharps said.
It was also appreciated that the two countries are actively seeking development through offshore wind power.
Minister Park announced that Korea will attend the G7 summit to be held in Hiroshima next month, and said, “We will strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the G7 countries to respond to unprecedented global crises such as the instability of the energy market.” said.
Meanwhile, Minister Park said, “I hope that this year’s 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties will strengthen cooperation” and “Congratulations in advance on the coronation of King Charles III, which is scheduled to be held next month.”
