Minister Jackson: I feel comfortable that I have acted in the interest of all parties | National

The Segpres minister, Giorgio Jackson, referred this Tuesday to the willingness of his ministry to receive proposals from all parties, regardless of political color, regarding the exit plebiscite. He also stressed the Government’s commitment to provide certainty to the population since September 5.

The minister of General Secretariat of the PresidencyGiorgio Jackson, made a press point from the National Congress where he referred to the proposals that have arisen both from the Rejection and the Approval regarding the exit plebiscite.

In the instance, the Secretary of State said that the Comptroller’s Office has a duty, but we also have ours.

This, in relation to the evaluation made by this report of the comptroller body regarding the violation of the principle of disregard that has been had with the option of Approval and Rejection -in particular- by the Segpres office and Minister Jackson .

According to La Radio, the minister said that those present know -referring to the media- that in the National Congress he has repeatedly indicated that he has made a formal invitation to all political sectors, Approval and Rejection , to come together in this office so that they can present proposals in the event that any of these options wins.

“We want from September 5 to be able to give the greatest amount of certainty so that the population can understand that the government is going to continue with its program of changes, of transformations,” Jackson said.

To this he added that “any limitation that we are going to find in the constitutional field, we will try to make it follow a course through the process, through a new Constitution. That is something that we have raised repeatedly.”

Official agreement

“In the event that the Approval alternative wins, we are mandated to generate its implementation, make the necessary adjustments and modifications,” said the former deputy.

“What happened last week gives an important input to what might be those adjustments and implementation by the ruling party, to whatever the implementation of the constitutional text is,” said Minister Jackson.

On the other hand, he said that in the case of Rejection, “the political mandate of the entry plebiscite will be maintained and therefore a modification will be sent to the National Congress so that the process can continue through a new call. That has to be agreed with the different sectors to be approved”.

“We will have to attend, listen and receive all the proposals that come from the Rejection sector, those that ideally would be unitary,” said the Segpres minister.

Meeting with DC Senators Going for Rejection

He also announced that tomorrow he will meet with the group of senators from the Christian Democracy, who although they are divided in their position, will meet with those representatives who are for the Rejection option and who from his office are going to generate guarantees for all political sectors.

“Tomorrow I have to meet with Senator Rincón, Senator Walker, Senator Flores, who are going to present one of the proposals that go along these lines. And we are happy to be able to receive any proposals that allow us to give certainty to the population,” Jackson said.

Along these lines, the minister said that “in the event that the Rejection alternative comes out, we will have all the will to be able to collect all those concerns and be able to translate them into a debate that has to come out of the National Congress.”

failure to dispense

Jackson was also consulted in relation to whether his actions have influenced the Comptroller’s opinion.

“The opinion of the Comptroller, and the Comptroller has a duty as the spokesperson minister said, which is the duty to supervise when certain facts are presented to it, in this case a specific statement of August 2,” said the minister.

“We also have the duty to clarify that on several other occasions – both in public clarifications and here – I have invited wherever people come from, to be able to have proposals to give certainties on September 5,” said the Secretary of State.

Jackson further emphasized that “I feel absolutely calm having acted with the interest that all parties -regardless of political color- will find a space in Segpres to present their proposals”.
