Quebecers earning the minimum wage will benefit from an increase in income as of Sunday, with an increase in the wage floor of $0.75 per hour.

Basic pay will therefore go from $13.50 per hour to $14.25 per hour.
According to Quebec, this increase will benefit just over 300,000 workers.
The minimum wage awarded to employees paid for tips also increases by 60 cents to $11.40 per hour.
According to what the Journal reported, in 2021, 60% of minimum-wage workers were between the ages of 15 and 24, and 70% were in retail, accommodation or food services.
Nearly one in two people (47%) at $13.50 an hour worked in a company with fewer than 20 people in 2021 and 62% were there part-time.
Nine out of 10 employees had no children and 30% did not have a high school diploma in their pocket.
This increase should not be the last, according to what the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Jean Boulet, told the parliamentary office last month.
“If the average hourly wage rises as expected, we will probably reach $15 (per hour) (…) we are inclined to go towards that and perhaps beyond.”
