[Mini Review]α7IV: SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN

A firmware update has been released for the zoom lens “SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary (Sony E mount)” that I use with my α7IV (ILCE-7M4), so I updated it immediately. This update will be “Ver.03”, but I didn’t know that “Ver.02” was released, so it became “Ver.03” at once.

By the way, I use a Mac as my main machine, but the software used to update the firmware didn’t work well, so I used the Windows sub machine to update.

Update contents

Ver.02

Fixed a bug that rarely caused blurring when using the in-body image stabilization function while using a gimbal.
The focus distance displayed on the screen during manual focus shooting has been optimized.

Ver.03

Added support for the AF assist function during movie shooting.
*Limited to models with AF assist function.

α7IV software update

I updated the lens, so when I checked if the camera was okay, I found that the α7IV (ILCE-7M4) had also been updated to “Ver. 1.11”. If there is an α7IV user uploading the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN firmware, I recommend updating the camera first.

Update contents

Ver. 1.11

Improved the reliability of shutter travel.
Improved the phenomenon that the movie file rotated by the camera may not be rotated on the computer.

With this, both the camera and lens have been updated to the latest firmware, so you can use them with confidence. Well then! Also!
