The Myanmar military announced on the same day that Ming Xuechang “committed suicide with a pistol” during his arrest.

Currently, Ming Xuechang’s body is being sent by Myanmar to Yanglongzhai Port in an ambulance for autopsy by the Chinese side.

The Ming family of Chinese origin is the actual controller of the “Crouching Tiger Villa”, a large-scale telecommunications fraud park in Kokang, northern Myanmar. The 69-year-old Ming Xuechang is the head of his family and has served as the magistrate of Kokang County and a member of the Shan State Parliament.

On November 12, the Public Security Bureau of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province issued a reward warrant for Ming Xuechang, Ming Guoping, Ming Julan, and Ming Zhenzhen, saying that they were important leaders of a criminal group involved in China’s electronics fraud in the Kokang Autonomous Region in northern Myanmar, and had committed huge amounts of fraud. At the same time, he is suspected of multiple serious violent crimes such as intentional homicide, intentional injury, and illegal detention. The circumstances are extremely bad and the consequences are extremely serious.

For those who provide effective clues and assist in arrests, the public security organs will give rewards of 100,000 to 500,000 yuan.

The BBC reported that the reason for this arrest was that on October 20, many people, including Chinese citizens, were shot and buried alive in the Wohushan Manor area controlled by the Ming Xuechang family in Laojie, the capital of Kokang. This triggered protests from the Lincang government in neighboring China’s Yunnan Province, demanding severe punishment for the perpetrators.

According to local media reports, the “four major families” that are more powerful than the Ming family in Kokang in northern Myanmar are the Bai Suocheng family, the Wei Chaoren family, the Liu Guoxi family and the Liu Abao family. These “four major families” control all of Kokang’s mining, casino and real estate operations, and are also the backers of telecommunications fraud activists in the Kokang area. As for the Ming family, although it is not one of the four major families, it is also very powerful.
