Apple would have in mind to differentiate much more frankly between the iPhone 14 and 14 Max (the “basic” models) and the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. And this might mark a serious change in the range, since according to Ming-Chi Kuo, only the two Pro smartphones would be equipped with an A16 chip. The other two would be satisfied with the A15 chip, in other words the engine that equips the iPhone 13 family.
This would be a thunderclap, until now the entire range of iPhones went to the new annual chip. By drawing plans on the comet, we can speculate that in the future, the manufacturer would like to reserve its most modern chips for the most expensive iPhones (with, perhaps, a price drop in the key for the models General public ?).
The analyst also indicates that while all iPhone 14s will have 6GB of RAM, the basic versions will have LPDDR 4X, the Pro versions will have LPDDR 5 which is up to 1.5 times faster and up to 30% more energy efficient. The iPhone Pro would also swap the notch for a pill + hole combo, pending design harmonization across the range.
In 2023, all iPhone 15s will (maybe) have a hole and a pill in the screen
Apple is expected to present four new smartphones this year (in addition to the iPhone SE 3rd gen. unveiled this week): iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (6.1 and 6.7 inches), iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max ( 6.1 and 6.7 inches).
