Mindef announces actions to strengthen the digital security of the Armed Forces after a computer breach

The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) pointed out that they are taking the corresponding actions to strengthen the infrastructure of the sector after the revelation that they violated the digital security of the computer platforms in the portfolio and other countries of Latin America.

“All the corresponding actions are being taken to strengthen the computer infrastructure and digital security of the Armed forces”, pointed out the Ministry of Defence through a statement to the public.

The Mindef reported that a forensic analysis is being carried out after the breach of the security of the computer platforms. In addition, they reported that all access to the networks of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) and Armed Institutions, while the technical specialists carry out the corresponding tasks.

As is known, the Armed forces were victims of a group of hackers known as Gucamayawhere —according to what they say— they expose how Latin American governments apply their resources to repress citizens.

The journalistic investigation portal Ciper from Chile, which had access to the emails hacked by macawrevealed plans for an alleged war between Peru on the border with Chile.

Likewise, the Armed Forces of Peru they are concerned about the “weapons capacity that Chile on its northern border.

The emails “contain at least three strategic plans to be implemented by the Peruvian forces in the midst of tensions with Chile over the land border,” added Ciper.
