Ten medals in all major events (Olympic Games, World and European championships). Second gold in a row at the World Indoor Championships.
Miltos Tedoglou at 26 years old is still making history and he does it in such a natural way that no one can believe it.
In a final that was judged to be a… tie (at 8.22m his own best performance and also that of the Italian Mattia Furlani, with Milto having 8.15m as his second jump and his opponent 8.10m) he did not seem to be nervous at all, and when Furlani overtook him on the 4th jump within seconds he took back his joy and the gold medal.

Miltos Tedoglou: How he got to another world championship gold
He appeared in the arena wearing his hood with a look that screamed “sorry regarding the morning finals”… However, a few minutes later he was making sure to prove that either morning, followingnoon, or evening Miltos Tedoglou as soon as he takes his place in the corridor to start the effort for his jump, he goes into…beast mode.
After seeing the first three athletes in the final start with modest jumps, he made sure to give the world’s first adrenaline rush in the morning indoors as he landed 8.22m, just four centimeters off his personal best of 8.26m. .
A little later, the 19-year-old Italian Mattia Furlani showed that he too is justified in making such noise around his name as he has this year’s best performance with 8.36m, as he also landed at 8.22m on his first jump.
All the rest were much lower with Tedoglou and Furlani having a similar picture in the 2nd jump as the Greek did 7.94m. and the Italian 7.91m.
Milto’s third jump was amazing, but marginally invalid, with Furlani following with a second run of mediocre jump at 7.86m.
With the completion of the 3rd attempt in the final, the top 8 continued with the ranking up to that moment being as follows:
1. Tendoglou 8.22 (7.94)
2.Fourlani 8.22 (7.91)
3. Lawson 8.06
4. Budge 7.97
5. McLeon 7.94
6. Gayle 7.89
7. Modler 7.80
8. Williams 7.76
From the 4th jump, Tedoglou was the last to attempt and Furlani the penultimate, making sure that both turned the final into a real thriller.
Furlani also made an excellent effort with a jump of 8.10m. he moved into first place (now having a better second performance), but his joy was short-lived as seconds later Miltos landed at 8.15m and crossed first once more.
And while until that moment the final was a battle for two, in the 5th jump the Jamaican Carey McLeod appeared in the equation who for a few seconds froze the field with his jump finally measuring 8.21m and rising to 3rd place, just a centimeter below Tedoglou and Furlani.
The Italian in his own attempt stopped at 8.04 remaining in 2nd place, to be followed by a good jump from Miltos at 8.11 and both athletes now have one more attempt…
McLeod didn’t have the energy to make a second big jump, the others weren’t fit to threaten and Furlani and Tedoglou settled down for their last jump…
The Italian was looking for a performance over 8.15m and took a risk of necessity, finding the big jump, however he never found out what his performance was as he was disqualified and the judge’s red flag meant that Miltos Tedoglou was the World Champion.
With his own last jump at 8.19 he came out of the pit and put the Greek flag over his shoulder having done his job once more.
Even if they woke him up so early in the morning…
