Had “other ideas”
After only 15 games, Milos Pantovic left Union Berlin and moved on to Belgium. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder, who came on a free transfer from VfL Bochum last summer, is moving to KAS Eupen. The native of Munich signed a contract with coach Florian Kohfeldt’s club until 2025.
Pantovic will be running for the first time outside of Germany following stints with the “Iron”, VfL and Bayern Munich. In Eupen, the Serb meets his ex-player, who moved from Berlin to the Jupiler Pro League on a free transfer in July. Pantovic said of his move: “Of course I came here with different ideas last summer, but in the end it was still a special year. Union as a team and club is something unique. I wish all Unioners only the best for the future. Now a new challenge is waiting for me.”
Union sports director Oliver Ruhnert explained: “Milos didn’t get the playing times that we all hoped for. However, he has never let himself down and has always shown in training that he is ready. The move to Eupen is therefore understandable and we wish him all the best for his time there.”
