Milly Alcock flies from Westeros to Krypton and becomes the new Supergirl

For this crucial role in their eyes, the bosses of DC Studio, James Gunn and Peter Safran, relied on a young actress well known to fans of House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones. Milly Alcock played the role of Rhaenyra Targaryen, the designated heir of King Viserys in the first episodes of the series.

“Milly is a fantastic young actress, and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the DCU,” explained James Gunn. I discovered her in House of the Dragon, but was blown away by her various auditions and screen tests for Supergirl.”

In January 2023, he had already insisted on the importance of this character. “We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from a young age, and Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a piece of Krypton, and who saw all the people around of her dying and being killed in terrible ways during the first 14 years of her life, before coming to our planet.” He did not specify whether she would appear in Superman: Legacy, which should begin filming in the spring, or in a spin-off in which she would be the main heroine.

Case to be continued, therefore, with a casting likely to attract a younger audience.
