That Ana de Armas raises passions is nothing new, but now those passions might be expensive for Universal, following the millionaire lawsuit of two fans of the Hispanic-Cuban actress, who allege that they rented the film Yesterday encouraged by the appearance of their favorite star in the trailer but, to their surprise, the final footage had removed the scene.

Conor Woulfe, age 38, of Maryland, and Peter Michael Rosza, 44, from San Diego County, California, say they paid $3.99, just over €3.50, to rent the movie on AmazonPrime, moved only by the prospect of seeing Ana de Armas. Now they are asking for five million dollars in compensation from the studio to compensate for the disappointment.

“Consumers were promised a movie with Ana De Armas in the trailer of Yesterday, but they did not receive any movies with Ana de Armas“, they allege, in a lawsuit that collects Variety, “Those consumers were not provided any value for their rental or purchase.”

Yesterday tells the story of a singer-songwriter, played by Himesh Patel, who suffers a supernatural event and is the only human who remembers the Beatles, so he becomes a music star by plagiarizing their songs. Ana de Armas was going to play Roxane, a lover whom the protagonist was going to conquer on the TV show James Corden.

However, the scene was cut from the final footage of the film because the audience did not like the idea of the singer-songwriter falling in love with another woman who was not his partner in the film, played by Lily James. It was a “traumatic” change, in the words of the screenwriter Richard Curtis, which he admits was one of his favorite scenes but had to be removed “to improve the whole”.
