Millionaire investment announced in improvements to the National Hospital of Itauguá

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Health reports on investments in critical areas of the hospital and on the launch of a call for bids for the maintenance and repair of specialized hospitals in the region, with a budget of 40 billion guaraníes, of which, 20 billion will be exclusively for the National Hospital of Itauguá, which already has an opening date for envelopes.

The vice ministers of Comprehensive Health Care and Social Welfare, Santiago García, and of the Rectory and Health Surveillance, José Ortellado, spoke with representatives of the unions of the National Hospital of Itauguá, regarding the progress and pending challenges in the transformation of the national hospital.

García Destéfano highlighted that health is a priority for the Government of Paraguay, and that Minister María Teresa Barán gave instructions to expedite the procedures for a tender for repairs and Central hospitals. He announced that 20 billion guaraníes will be allocated exclusively to the National Hospital of Itauguá.

For his part, the director of the hospital, Miguel Ferreira, pointed out that since the visit of the President of the Republic Santiago Peña, improvements have been made in key areas such as nephrology, oncology and intensive care.

He stressed that the objective was always the well-being of the patients; in addition to pointing out that they informed the authorities about the state of the infrastructure and that significant progress is already being made.

In turn, the general director of Administration and Finance, Víctor Bernal, confirmed that resources have already been allocated to carry out the repairs of the hospital, which to date are tangible works.

He also reported on the progress of a call for bids managed some time ago for the maintenance and repair of specialized hospitals in the region, with a budget of 40 billion guaraníes. The dialogue was valued by both parties as a key step to move towards solutions that, according to them, were postponed by previous administrations.

Government aims to completely transform the hospital

The National Hospital of Itaugúa receives its first major renovation in 34 years, with gradual improvements in critical areas such as nephrology, oncology, intensive care and emergencies. The modernization project, promoted by the Government of Paraguay, which aims to transform the hospital in its entirety.

The hospital director, Miguel Ferreira, also highlighted that the renovations are being carried out in critical areas such as the nephrology service, which now has new floors, paint, air conditioners and a waiting room for kidney patients and their families. Additionally, “15 new hemodialysis machines will arrive in the next few days,” he announced.

In the intensive care area for adults, the facilities were completely remodeled, with new beds, monitors, respirators and other vital equipment. Oncology was also renovated and cancer patients now receive care in a sterile environment, with newly installed floors, bathrooms and HVAC systems.

As for the emergency room, improvements are also underway, with renovations to the waiting areas to provide greater comfort for patients and families. These works reflect the Government’s commitment to the modernization of the hospital, while the project of the new Grand National Hospital advances, which already has an architectural master plan, reported the health portfolio.
