On the early morning of the 28th, the South Korean military caught an unknown flight in the border area and sent fighters and other air power to sortie. The situation ended when it was confirmed that the object whose track was captured had nothing to do with North Korea.

A military official said on News 1 that day, “There was a situation and air power was dispatched, but it seems to have ended because there were no unusual issues.”

The military is confirming specific details regarding the timing and flight route of the unknown flight, and the size of the South Korean military’s response force.

The military is in the position that a comprehensive judgment is needed as to what the object was that the track was captured by the South Korean military on this day.

However, the military is said to have confirmed that this object is not a North Korean drone. As in the previous day, it is possible that the birds were mistaken for North Korean drones and the air force was launched.

When an unknown flight was spotted over Ganghwa around 1:00 p.m. the previous day, the military dispatched air power, including Air Force fighters and Army UAVs, with the possibility that it was a North Korean UAV in mind.

However, the situation ended around 4:00 p.m. when the pilot visually confirmed that it was not a North Korean drone, but a flock of birds.

Prior to this, the South Korean military detected the fact that a total of five North Korean drones crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and entered our airspace over the morning and followingnoon of the 26th, and began responding.

Of these, one flew over northern Seoul and returned to North Korea, while the other four flew over Gimpo and Paju in Gyeonggi-do and Ganghwa in Incheon and escaped detection range.

Following warning broadcasts and shooting, the South Korean military sortied 20 air power units, including fighter jets and helicopters, and operated for regarding five hours, but failed to shoot down five North Korean drones and missed them all.

Since the news of North Korean drones invading our airspace had been reported, the roaring sound of fighter planes woke up the local residents early in the morning.

It is said that around 1:00 a.m. on the same day, the roar of fighter jets rang for several minutes in the sky above northern Seoul and Incheon, as well as Chuncheon, Gyeonggi Goyang, Ganghwa, Yangju, and Uijeongbu.

It is known that some residents trembled with anxiety when the roar of fighter jets occurred without any prior explanation.
