The Spanish authorities themselves granted Russian pilot Maksim Kuzminov new documents, but no protection. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper “El País”.

M. Kuzminov was a captain of the Russian army who graduated from the Syzran Aviation School. The 28-year-old soldier, by his own admission, opposed the war in Ukraine and was in contact with the Ukrainian security services. August 9 he flew to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government in a helicopter, which was used to transport spare parts for a fighter jet. They did not take part in the escape and are suspected to have died while trying to escape to Russian territory.
