Militant from Copei del Táchira requested before the TSJ the suspension of the party’s elections

DLA.- The lawyer and Copei activist, Hugo Saavedra, filed an appeal before the electoral chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice to request the suspension of the Copean electoral process scheduled for January 2025.

Likewise, Saavedra requested that a new national and state AD HOC direction be appointed for Táchira, “in the face of the constant violations of the political rights of the Copeyanos, by citizens Miguel Salazar and Juan Carlos Alvarado.”

The Christian Social activist indicated that it will be the highest court of Venezuela that will decide the solution to this internal Copeyan situation.

Saavedra recalled that the electoral process has been scheduled through the national political leadership of the Copei party in Venezuela, whose authorities intend to be elected once again on January 12, 2025.

He clarified that he requested the suspension because the electoral commission has violated the rights to elect and be elected, the right to participation, preventing the current Copei authorities in Táchira from participating in this process since they have been expelled and suspended without no type of constitutional and statutory disciplinary procedure.

“We cannot allow this Ad Hoc national leadership headed by citizen Miguel Salazar and citizen Juan Carlos Alvarado to continue doing what they consider within the Copei Party and not only in Táchira but throughout the country.”

He regretted that he had to request the intervention of the Copei party once again, but it is clear that they have to fight the legal battle so that they can definitively legitimize and legalize the next authorities that can respect the statutes.

He said that the current authorities should not believe that the party in Venezuela is a warehouse in which they can act with impunity as they please, placing and removing whoever they want.

He specified that it will be the highest court of the republic that will definitively decide who will be the next authorities of Copei and under what legal election procedure the new authorities will have to be chosen, according to what the Constitution and Venezuelan law say. in electoral matters
