Miley Cyrus was on her private jet heading to Paraguay when the plane was struck by lightning mid-flight. The pilots were therefore forced to make an emergency landing to see the damage to the plane.
Following the incident, the American singer had to cancel her participation in the Asunciónico music festival. On Instagram, the 29-year-old shared chilling images of the moment lightning struck her private jet. She also posted a photo of the damaged device, before addressing her Paraguayan fans. “Our plane found itself in the heart of a completely unexpected storm and was struck by lightning. My team, my group and my family who were all traveling with me, we are safe and we were able to carry out an emergency landing. Unfortunately, we cannot travel to Paraguay,” she wrote.
This Tuesday, the capital of Paraguay was hit by major floods. The Asunciónico festival had also announced on its Twitter account that the first day of the festivities had to be canceled due to bad weather conditions. Miley Cyrus’ next concert will therefore take place on March 26 at the Lollapalooza festival in São Paulo, Brazil.
