Gabriel KatopodisMinister of Public Works of the government who ends his term in just two weeks, harshly criticized the president-elect Javier Milei this Saturdayaccusing him of “stop public works throughout Argentina”. The official’s statements, expressed in his X account, are framed in the context of the controversy generated by the president-elect’s announcements regarding the “end of public works”.

Katopodis, questioned Milei considering that “it started badly” his management, with that announcement that there will be no works from December 10.

“Milei started badly. He ratified his campaign announcements as President-elect,” said Katopodis. “She already sealed the first: stopped public works throughout Argentina“added the member of Alberto Fernández’s Cabinet in X.

Through this message published on social networks and without specifying which place he was referring to with the layoffs, the official stated that “c“Layoff telegrams have begun to arrive and hundreds of thousands of workers will lose their jobs, and their families will face pain and suffering.”

In turn, the member of Unión por la Patria warned that the measures of the incoming government will cause “Hundreds of SMEs and construction companies are once once more in a call for creditors, as happened in 2018/19 with Mauricio Macri’s economic plan.”

“Since we began management in Public Works, we developed 7,265 works throughout the country (in agreement with governors and mayors of all political stripes), we completed 4,434 and as of November 19, 2,308 were in progress,” said Katopodis.

And he expressed: “This work allowed us to reach 100% of the municipalities and local governments, and reach the historical record of 480,000 jobs in the construction sector. 50% of these jobs depend on public works, supported by the National State, the provincial and municipal governments”.

The Minister of Public Works, a portfolio that will disappear as of December 10, reposted a message from UOCRA which issued a statement on “alert” for the jobs that might be lost in the future.
