In Italy they are optimistic. Milan might have a new owner as early as Friday. As “Archyde.com” writes, the negotiations between the current owner of the traditional club “Elliott” and the investment group “Investcorp” are well advanced. At the end of the week, the two parties should shake hands.
Apparently, Milan is worth around 1.2 billion francs to investors from Bahrain. This makes the 18-time Italian champions the first Serie A club to fall into the hands of Arab entrepreneurs.
A further eight of the twenty clubs in Serie A are already in foreign hands – including Inter, Roma and Fiorentina. Because Italian clubs are valued lower than English clubs, they are increasingly popular with investors.
Investcorp is pursuing big plans with Milan. The traditional club is to be formed into a big number in football once more. He last won Serie A in 2011. This season, the Milanese have been playing for the title once more for some time. So that it stays that way in the future and that the connection to the international top succeeds, substantial investments are to be made. This includes not only player transfers, but also driving the stadium project forward. (cef)
