The authorities Italian confirmed on Thursday, August 22, the discovery of the body of British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch, 59.
The yacht was caught in a violent storm near Porticello during the early hours of Monday 19 August, resulting in a tragic incident.
The Italian press reported the discovery of the body, without revealing its sources. The coastguard later confirmed that it had recovered the bodies of all the male victims, confirming the tycoon’s death.
The search for Mike Lynch’s daughter continues
The search continues for Hannah Lynch’s missing 18-year-old daughter.
The body had been lying 50 metres deep in the Mediterranean Sea since 19 August, when the boat sank during a storm, making rescue efforts and recovery of the body by firefighters and rescue units difficult.
Lynch boarded the yacht with his son and friends to celebrate having been acquitted in June of all fraud charges he faced in the United States. He had been defending himself in court for more than a decade following the sale of Autonomy a Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion in 2011.
