ESPN announced on Thursday the departure of Mike Budenholzer as coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. The 53-year-old technician paid for his team’s surprise elimination in the first round of the NBA play-offs against the Miami Heat last week. Milwaukee had yet finished top of the regular season.
In Game 5 – the last of the series – the Bucks had the opportunity to win late in the last quarter and in overtime. But, in both cases, Budenholzer had decided not to use his last time outs.
After being an assistant coach at the San Antonio Spurs for 17 years, he took charge of the Atlanta Hawks in 2013. Five years later, Mike Budenholzer was named head of the Milwaukee Bucks and guided them to the title in 2021.
