Mikaela Shiffrin: Next stop for the US star – slalom mistakes cost the next gold chance in combination

Silver went to Gisin’s teammate Wendy Holdener, bronze to Federica Brignone of Italy.

A German runner was not at the start, as was Vice World Champion Petra Vlhova from Slovakia, who left injured. The last competition of the Alpines is the team event on Saturday.

After the descent, speed specialist Christine Scheyer from Austria was in the lead. Shiffrin had the best chance of gold, just 0.56 seconds behind.

Shiffrin at a loss following Aus

“I don’t understand it,” said the helpless Shiffrin in an interview. She didn’t feel any pressure. The pressure looked to have been much greater at the past Pyeongchang Olympics.

Gisin showed an almost flawless performance in the pole forest. With an aggressive drive, she undercut her compatriot Holdener’s mark by 1.05 seconds.

Brignone was already 1.85 seconds behind the winner’s time.
