From 2007, Mihaela was promoted to the position of Head of Financial Control Department in UniCredit Țiriac Bank, becoming in 2010 Director of Planning and Control. Among the responsibilities assumed by Mihaela are participation in the due diligence team for the merger with Banca Comercială Ion Țiriac, followed by the merger between UniCredit and HVB Țiriac, as well as the fact that she was part of the team that coordinated the acquisition of the retail and corporate portfolios from RBS.
Teodora Petkova, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at UniCredit, said: “Mihaela’s appointment as CEO of UniCredit Bank in Romania reflects her professional training and her outstanding contributions within our organization. Her data-driven approach to decision-making, her strategic thinking, strong risk management ability, along with her acuity in deep business understanding, positions her for the mission to drive the growth and stability of the bank and to contribute to the development and the continued success of our customers and colleagues in Romania”.
“It is an honor and a joy to return to UniCredit Bank in Romania, alongside the team I was part of and in which I grew up for so many years of my professional life. At the same time, I also feel a huge responsibility. Together with my colleagues from UniCredit, I will continue the bank’s commitment to be a partner of the communities in which we operate, an actor deeply involved in the Romanian economy and one of the Group’s growth engines. Our mission is and will be to always be better, to offer products and services adapted to the needs of our customers and to be the bank for the future of Europe and Romania”, said Mihaela Lupu.
