Miguel Oliveira returns to Portugal to consult for surgery – The operation is expected to take place.

What else could happen to Miguel Oliveira?! Bad luck struck the Portuguese rider again today during FP1 in Mandalika as Oliveira crashed heavily and immediately showed signs of pain. After confirming the fracture following further tests in Indonesia, Oliveira will now return to Portugal, where surgery is likely to be necessary.

The team provided an update on the health of the #88 driver and confirmed the fracture suffered after highside. Although he is currently stable, Oliveira is unlikely to avoid surgery, which is why he has already scheduled a specialist appointment, as Trackhouse informed:

It remains to be seen how long he will be out, but in the worst case scenario Miguel Oliveira’s season could be over, although it is too early to make any progress in that direction as the site of the injury is particularly sensitive. Therefore, it is important to have a good recovery without skipping any steps.

– After the crash in the middle of the session, Miguel was taken to the circuit’s medical center for an examination, where it was discovered that his right wrist was broken. He was then flown by helicopter to hospital in Mataram, Lombok, for a CT scan, which showed that Miguel had suffered multiple fractures of the radius bone. The fracture has been successfully stabilized and Miguel is alert and will fly back to Portugal for a surgical consultation. More information will be released as it becomes available, and in the meantime, everyone at Trackhouse Racing wishes Miguel a speedy recovery.
