Miguel Ángel López won the mountain and reached the podium in Burgos

After of being wrongly judged by many people and even for his team, Astana, who suspended him while the Spanish authorities investigated him for alleged drug trafficking, the Colombian Miguel Ángel López responded as best he knows how to do it, pedaling.

After come out of that investigation unscathedthe cyclist from Boyacá finished as mountain champion and climbed to third place on the podium in the Vuelta a Burgos.

This Saturday, during the last stage, he gave a real display on the tough climbs to Lagunas de Neila.

Although the fraction was taken by the Portuguese Joao Almeida, defeating Superman in the packaging, what López has done is more than meritorious.

The last stage of the round of Burgos started from the town of Lerma, from where the runners faced 170 kilometers ending in the demanding special category port of the Neila Lagoons. Previously, the peloton had to face three other third category ports: Alto del Majadal, Alto del Arroyo and Alto del Collado de Vilviestre.

The leader Pavel Sivakov resisted all the attacks and neutralized each one of the leaks thanks to the work of his domestiques at Ineos. Already in the last 3 kilometers, when he knew that he had secured the first place in the general classification, the French loosened up, the Portuguese Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) and Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana)They went for the stage win.

Finally, the celebration went to the Portuguese cyclist, and the Colombian entered second. While only seven seconds behind came the leader Sivakov.

In this way, the general classification of the Vuelta a Burgos finished with Pavel Sivakov as first, Joao Almeida second and Miguel Ángel López closing the podium.

The Colombian climbed from 16th to third place and also took the mountain title. For his part, Santiago Buitrago finished as youth champion and placed eighth overall. In that same table, Esteban Chaves occupied box 12 and Iván Sosa 14. Good performance by the coffee riders.
