Migrants: two boats in difficulty in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais, 70 people rescued

Two rescue operations took place on Monday in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais.

In quick succession, the Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue carried out two rescue operations in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais on Monday, August 1. Shortly after first repatriating 35 people who were in difficulty on a boat, the public service patrol vessel Flamant of the French Navy went to the aid of 35 other people.

The migrants were dropped off at the port of Calais to be taken care of by the border police and the firefighters of Pas-de-Calais. “All are safe and sound”, specifies the communiqué.

In mid-July, the emergency services were called to Calais to take care of 41 migrants rescued from the sea after their boat broke down.
