Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has died
With his role as the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, he became a hero for several generations. Now the 90s star has passed away.
He was found dead at his home in Texas on Sunday.

The heart of an entire generation bled when the news broke on Sunday evening. Actor and arguably the most famous Power Ranger of all time, Jason Frank David has died at the age of 49. This reports the US magazine «TMZ». The California native died at his home in Texas, according to his rep Justine Hunt. As “TMZ” further reports, the cause of death is said to have been suicide.
Power Rangers from head to toe
Frank is best known for his role as Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993. In it he played the green ranger in the first season, who fought first for the bad guys and then for the good guys, only to become the leader as a white ranger from the second season.
He wore the white hero suit until the end of the third season and in a movie. After that, the production of the MMPR came up with a new story. The «Power Rangers ZEO» was born. Frank took over the role of leader once more and became the red ranger. This remained with him in the “Power Rangers Turbo” adaptation, both in the series and in the second film.
Then in 2004 he returned as a black superhero in «Power Rangers Dino Thunder». In between he honored the franchise once more and once more with guest appearances. Frank was also a gifted fighter in real life. He was a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.
Mourning the loss of another family member
Walter Emanuel Jones (51), who then played the black Power Ranger, wrote on Instagram: “My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family.”
Jones is referring to the tragic death of actress Thuy Trang. She died in a car accident in 2001 at the age of 27. In the ’90s original series, she played the yellow Power Ranger.
Frank not only leaves numerous fans around the world, his family and friends – his four children also mourn the “Power Rangers” star. He is survived by three children from his first marriage – sons Hunter and Jacob and daughter Skye – and his daughter Jenna from his second marriage.
