Might Delete Later: Latvian Artist conquers europe with Unique Sound
Riga, Latvia – Might Delete Later, the moniker of latvian musician, singer, and producer Anna Madara Pērkone, is making waves across Europe, transforming personal voice messages into captivating electronic music. Her recent endeavors, including a sold-out London boat party, highlight her innovative approach and growing international appeal.
“Shy”: From Confession to Anthem
Might Delete Later’s latest track, “Shy,” exemplifies her distinctive style. What began as a simple voice message evolved into a powerful and relatable anthem. As she explains, “It all started with a voice news – one unfiltrated, true confession of a lack of self -confidence. An anonymous caller admitted that he feels too ‘shy’ (shy, timid – translated) to find a place in this world.”
Pērkone transformed this vulnerable message into “an emotional, throbbing song that calls for stepping out of her shadow.” The song,co-created with British DJ Arielle Free and released via Defected Records, needed a launch as unique as its origin.
Secret Boat Party: A Rave on the Thames
To generate buzz, Might Delete Later and Arielle Free organized a secret boat party in London, announcing it just 12 hours before it set sail. The gamble paid off. “People filled the berths, the boat was overwhelmed, and the event turned into a sweaty, euphoric day rave!” the musician recounted with enthusiasm.
This unconventional approach reflects a growing trend in the U.S. and Europe where artists are seeking direct engagement with their fans through unique, experiential events. Think of artists like Billie Eilish, who has hosted intimate listening parties in unconventional venues, or Post Malone, who has curated his own music festival. These events offer fans a more personal and immersive experience, fostering a stronger connection with the artist.
Riga Homecoming: A Voice News Listening Event
Before embarking on a summer tour, Might Delete Later returned to her roots. On April 30, she hosted a special event at Benjamini house in Riga, inviting fans to experience the source material behind her music. “In an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, let’s listen to funny, sincere and touching voice news, and hear how they have turned into music. see you in Riga! this will be unforgettable,” said the Saulkrasti-born artist.
This event offered a rare glimpse into Pērkone’s creative process, demonstrating how she transforms everyday experiences into art.The event was “Might Delete Later’s only event in Riga before going on a summer tour of Summersound, Sziget, Boardmasters and more than ten other festivals.”
Summer Festival Circuit
might Delete Later’s summer schedule includes appearances at major European music festivals. This extensive tour schedule is a testament to her rising popularity and the increasing demand for her unique sound.
The Power of Voice notes in Music
Might delete Later’s innovative use of voice notes as inspiration highlights a broader trend in music production. Artists are increasingly drawing inspiration from unconventional sources, using found sounds, field recordings, and personal audio messages to create unique and engaging soundscapes. This approach resonates with audiences seeking authenticity and originality in an increasingly saturated music market.
This phenomenon parallels the popularity of podcasts and audio documentaries in the U.S., where listeners are drawn to the unfiltered and intimate nature of spoken-word content. Might Delete Later taps into this same desire for authenticity, transforming personal confessions into universal anthems.
