“I’m happy to finally free myself from this secret because I realized I can’t keep one. It wasn’t that I wanted to hide it for anything bad, [but for] the safety of the pregnancy. I also wanted to have the chance for it not to leak outside first,” Castellanos remarks. “I wanted to share it with the people who have followed my career and to do it in my words on Desiguales.”

That’s why, alongside the program’s producer Carlos Mesber, the blonde planned to make the announcement on today’s show to her set colleagues Adamari López, Dr. Nancy Álvarez, Amara La Negra, and Banda, in addition to sharing it with People en Español. “They’re finding out today,” Castellanos confesses excitedly, noting that the plans hadn’t included becoming a mother at this time. “To be honest, we weren’t planning on having a baby this year, but I’m not going to say we were avoiding it either.”

The truth is that the couple had been discussing a future family practically since they met a year and a half ago at a private event in New York. “I knew he was the one; when I saw that guy from behind, with curly hair, dressed in a suit and tie, and holding a beer, he seemed the sexiest thing in the world. Although one day I shared this with Rodner Figueroa and he thought it was so tacky,” recalls the former Miss Venezuela with a smile. “I asked who the curly-haired guy was, and thanks to asking about the curls, he’s now the father of my child.”

The connection was so strong that even though the curly-haired prince wasn’t a big fan of Miami, he said goodbye to the Big Apple four months ago to move to South Florida with Castellanos. “We didn’t waste any time,” says the 29-year-old presenter without hesitation. “Now I always play Enrique Iglesias’ song ‘Move to Miami.’”

These past four months have been filled with new adventures and challenges that have greatly strengthened the couple’s relationship, especially with this pregnancy. “I found out at four weeks because I’m very regular with my period. I took a test, and we went into the bathroom and talked for a long time until I asked him to turn over the test, and it was positive,” the model remembers. “Our first reaction was a mix of excitement and nerves, and I took another test, and another, and they were all positive. Two days later, I had a sonogram to see if the sac had an embryo, and from then on, I had to work and pretend everything was fine at work, but my mind was elsewhere.”

Her body is certainly reacting as well. “I get tired in the morning, but I manage it by having breakfast. I do my Desiguales and stay on top of my food. The only thing I’ve been struggling with a lot is reflux and heartburn, but I’m being very patient and don’t complain about anything,” explains Castellanos, who hasn’t had any excessive food cravings. “The biggest change I’ve had is my breasts; they’ve grown, but I feel like these months have been very calm. The only issue is that I fall asleep in the afternoon.”

Do they want a boy or a girl? “It might sound cliché, but I just want a healthy baby. I talk a lot to my baby and thank God every day for entrusting me with someone in my womb,” she says. “My mom thinks it’s a girl, my dad thinks it’s a boy, and Jason is hoping for a girl, but we’re not set on a specific gender. He proposed we wait until the baby is born to find out the gender, but we still haven’t decided if we will; I don’t know if I can hold out.”

What Castellanos is very clear about is that the name of her child cannot be as complicated as her own. “I have a trauma with my name, which I’ve always dealt with my mom about because it’s a compound name,” she confesses. “What I’m sure of is that the name has to be short and pronounced the same in English and Spanish.”
