Midnight orders extension of C-Apt retirement | Government of Kerala

Kozhikode: The government has issued a midnight order for retirees in C-Apt. The retirement age was extended to around midnight on the day the 35 employees retire.

The minister’s brother and party relatives were due to retire from the Center for Advanced Printing and Training (C-Apt) on March 31. The Cabinet had decided to raise the retirement age from 58 to 60. But the order might not be issued as the code of conduct for the Thrikkakara by-election was in force. By the last day, the Principal Secretary of Higher Education was under pressure to issue the order on the 31st.

Although a section of officials objected to the hasty order, the hasty decision was taken under pressure from top leaders in the CPM.

The 413 employees who were sacked in 2002 following being appointed have decided to approach the court in this regard. The High Court had ordered that appointments should be made to them when vacancies arise. But despite that, the service of the existing employees was extended once more.
