Middle Eastern countries condemn the attack on the Azerbaijan Embassy in Iran | Middle East

Some regional countries have condemned the case armed attack January 27 aimed at Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Iranian capital Tehran, killing the commander of the security forces of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission and wounding two others.

“We are shocked and saddened by the cowardly attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran that killed the commander of the security forces,” Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haiat said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid affirmed Cairo’s solidarity with Baku.

The incident happened between the President of Egypt Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi is making an official visit to Azerbaijan to strengthen bilateral relations.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent condolences to Azerbaijan, and “strongly condemns this criminal act, affirming always opposes all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stable.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia also strongly condemned the attack, and expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Azerbaijan.

The incident happened on the morning of January 27 when a gunman opened fire on security staff of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tehran.

The perpetrator has been detained by Iranian security forces, but details are not available at this time.
