Middle East, Nasrallah’s body recovered. Israel also launches raids in Yemen –

The body of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, killed on Friday in an Israeli raid launched on the southern outskirts of Beirut, has been recovered intact. It is presumed that the cause of death was trauma caused by the force of the explosion of the IDF missiles, although among the hypotheses circulating there is also that of suffocation due to the gases released by the bombing which would have invaded the bunker without ventilation where Nasrallah was hiding. His funeral, initially scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed to a later date. According to rumors in the Arab media, his place should now be taken by his cousin Hashim Safi Al Din, until now head of the Executive Council and Nasrallah’s ‘shadow man’ since 1994. According to the Israeli Defense Forces with their leader in the attack which caused a huge crater in the Dahieh neighborhood, over 20 members of Hezbollah also died, such as Ali Karaki, commander of the southern front, Ibrahim Hussein Jazini and Samir Tawfik Diab, respectively head of personal security and advisor to the head of the Lebanese Shiite party. The manner of the attack, however, would have infuriated, according to what the Jerusalem Post has learned, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin who complained to his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant about the lack of warning before the operation.

In the meantime, the Israeli raids on Lebanon have not stopped, where almost 50 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, and on the capital Beirut, where yet another ‘targeted attack’ targeted Abu Ali Rida, commander of the Bader unit of Hezbollah and responsible for the second line of defense in the south of the country. He is the last military commander of the Shiite group to remain alive. If his death were to be confirmed, a circumstance currently denied by Hezbollah itself, the pro-Iran party would be left without any of its senior leaders. However, the IDF air strikes did not only hit the Land of the Cedars, but also in Syria and Yemen. In a “large-scale air operation”, coordinated with the United States, a power plant and the port of the town of Hodeidah, controlled by Houthi rebels, were bombed. “For us, no place is too far away”, was Gallant’s threat, after the launch of some rockets from Yemen against Israel in recent days.

The fear, however, is that Israel will not limit itself to air strikes but will prepare small-scale operations or “border movements” in Lebanon to eliminate Hezbollah positions close to the Blue Line, as two US officials revealed to the broadcaster ABC. Although the scale of a ground offensive is expected to be small if it occurs, the fate of civilians who have already left southern Lebanon en masse is of concern. Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that “the number of displaced people could reach one million”, while according to the UN there are already 70,000 people who have fled to Syria to escape the bombings.
