The first round of the OSAA state football playoffs saw a number of wins and some tough losses for Mid-Valley football teams up and down the classifications.
Here are 10 takeaways for Mid-Valley football teams.
1: South Salem falls in playoffs
The Saxons came up short 17-0 in the OSAA Class 6A state playoffs at home to Tigard.
South Salem finishes the season 9-1 overall.
2: West Salem drops road playoff game
The Titans lost 42-7 to No. 1 seed West Linn in the OSAA Class 6A state playoffs.
West Salem finishes the season 5-5.
Kaden Martirano scored the Titans’ only touchdown.
3: North Salem advances in Columbia Cup
The Vikings won 27-0 over Grant to advance to the second round of the Columbia Cup.
North Salem next will host the winner of Jefferson and South Medford.
4: McKay falls in playoffs
The Scots lost 28-8 to Hillsboro in the OSAA Class 5A state playoffs.
McKay finished the season 6-4 overall.
5: Silverton cruises
The Foxes cruised past Hood River Valley 44-7 to reach the second round of the OSAA Class 5A state playoffs.
Silverton next will host West Albany in the second round.
6: Cascade downs Tillamook
No. 12 Cascade downed No. 5 Tillamook 32-8 in the first round of the OSAA Class 4A state playoffs.
Cascade will play at No. 4 Scappoose on Friday in the quarterfinals.
7: Dayton beats Siuslaw
No. 3 Dayton beat No. 14 Siuslaw 34-14 in the first round of the OSAA Class 3A state playoffs.
Dayton will host No. 11 Yamhill-Carlton Friday in the quarterfinals.
8: Regis romps Stanfield
No. 4 Regis downed No. 13 Stanfield in the first round of the OSAA Class 2A state playoffs.
Regis will host the winner of the Bandon/Pacific and Heppner game Friday in the quarterfinals.
9: Gervais advances to quarterfinals
No. 7 Gervais beat No. 10 Toledo 24-12 in the first round of the OSAA Class 2A state playoffs.
Gervais will play at No. 2 Oakland in the quarterfinals on Friday.
10: St. Paul downs Crosspoint Christian
No. 5 St. Paul beat No. 12 Crosspoint Christian 54-12 in the first round of the OSAA Class 1A playoffs.
St. Paul will play at No. 4 Imbler on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
