It’s been a while since Microsoft last made a major update to its Surface line of computers. However, according to Windows Centralthe Redmond company is reportedly preparing a new Surface Pro as well as a Surface Laptop, with an emphasis on features linked to artificial intelligence.

In both cases, Microsoft will offer a version with an Intel 14 processore generation, and another with ARM architecture (like smartphones). Both will have a dedicated AI chip (Neural Processing Unit or NPU). However, it is especially the ARM models that will take full advantage of artificial intelligence with the next version of Windows 11, Hudson Valley. Called Cadmus, these PCs will integrate Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X chips, and will be able to compete with Apple chips in terms of performance, autonomy and security.

A new design and a dedicated Copilot button

The first of the new computers will be the Surface Laptop 6, whose screen will have thinner bezels and rounded corners. It will be available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch versions, with two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, as well as the Surface Connect magnetic charging port. Finally, it will have a haptic touchpad and a dedicated key for Windows Copilot.

The Surface Pro 10’s display will be brighter, compatible with HDR, and will also have rounded corners. This computer will integrate an NFC chip reader as well as a webcam with a wider field of vision. The cheapest Surface Pro 10s might also have a reduced definition, going from 2,880 x 1,920 pixels to 2,160 x 1,440 pixels. Finally, the Type Cover keyboard would have a dedicated Copilot button.

Always according to Windows Centralthese models should be released in 2024. In addition, Microsoft would be working on a more substantial update for the Surface Pro for the end of 2025, with the possibility of an 11-inch version, as well as a new Surface Laptop Studio which would also be available in Intel and ARM version.
